No Longer Homeless, Owensboro Sisters Hosting Fall Fundraiser for Other Kids in New Shelter

Meet The Baughn Sisters from Owensboro. These sweet girls have an amazing story of triumph and they're determined to change others' lives too.

Children should always have the right to feel safe and secure in this life.  No child should ever have to wonder where they're going to lay their head down at night.  Angel here and often at night when I lay my littles down I struggle knowing there are other children right here in Owensboro and surrounding counties who are not receiving the same care.

Nevaeh and Cheyla understand this all too well.  When they were younger they spent several years in a local shelter with their mother.  They remember what it was like to be without a home and that others helped them at a time when they did not have a home.

These girls are paying it forward in the most beautiful and selfless way.  They now live with their grandparents and told their grandmother they wanted to give back.  The girls asked if they could build a stand to sell Apple Cider, Caramel Apples, and Pumpkin Muffins.

I have shared this before but growing up we did not have much.  I lived with a single momma and she made me promise as I got older to give back to others since people had done the same for us when we had nothing.

Apple cider is free with a donation.  Pumpkin muffins are a dollar each and Caramel apples will be $2.  All donations will go to My Sister's Keeper Emergency Shelter.

The girls will be selling the items on the corner of East Highland Ct. and 4th street across from Daviess County Middle on Saturday, October 9, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be signs out for everyone to see. They would love for you to come and help.
When Holly, the girls' grandmother contacted me and told me what they wanted to do I couldn't do anything but cry.  What precious and sweet souls they have.  They are so young and yet still wanting to love others.  Let this be an example to all of us who are older in learning how to treat one another.
Side note:  The girls came to church last Sunday and they may give the best hugs in the world.
