What the Heck Was That? The Mysterious Dumas Highway Dinosaurs
Recently, I wrote about the dinosaur that watches over the highway going to Canadian, TX. Naturally, my editor kicked open the door to my studio early this morn' and gleefully announced: "Get your coat and get in the car, I found more dinosaurs."
And sure enough, she indeed had found more. And I now need to know why these statues exist, and what this place is---or was.
Dinosaurs On The Way To Dumas
Traveling north from Wonderland Park, you'll come across these statues if you know to look for them. I can't believe I've never noticed all of this before.
Take the access road to get there, it's easier.
Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, And More Dinosaurs
When we arrived, I was blown away by the number of tiny dinosaur statues. They were all behind a chain-link fence surrounded by little cabins.
There was more than just dinosaurs, though. Aliens, Big Foot, a nativity scene, a pig, and a bear were just some of the other statues inhabiting the lot.
Why are those statues out there?
Cookie Time Museum & Christmas
There were two signs posted on the property. One made it clear that we weren't welcome to walk inside the fence. The other just said "Cookie Time" and had a phone number.
The only information that we were able to dig up was a phone number and one website listing it as a museum. The number dialed went to a voicemail that didn't belong to a 'Cookie Time' and further internet searches have done no good.
So here is my public plea: Do you know what the deal with Cookie Time is? Heck, are you the person behind Cookie Time? Or know of them? Send my editor an email by clicking the button below (she's super duper nice, pinkie promise).
Any information would send us over the moon.
